Abstract

Qualitative tests are the primary assays for detecting the presence of any lipids in a given sample. Qualitative detection of lipids is based on the chemical interactions between components of lipids and certain chemical reagents added to them. These chemical reagents allow for the properties of lipids like hydrophobicity, translucency, or colourimetric analysis due to colour changes. These tests have been explained in detail in this chapter.
