Abstract

SHS investigation development is considered from the geographical and historical viewpoint. 3 stages are described. Within Stage 1 the work was carried out in the Department of the Institute of Chemical Physics in Chernogolovka where the scientific discovery had been made. At Stage 2 the interest to SHS arose in different cities and towns of the former USSR. Within Stage 3 SHS entered the international scene. Now SHS processes and products are being studied in more than 50 countries.

Abstract

This chapter considers a fixed charged solid transportation problem where all parameters of the problem have uncertainty due to ambiguity in the data set. These uncertain parameters (destination budget, accessibility, necessity, conveyance capacity, and transportation cost) are considered bounded. The problem’s solution is obtained by applying a transformation of the interval-based model into a conventional nonlinear programming problem. The transformed model is solved using any nonlinear programming technique. The solution obtained by the deterministic model is an acceptable solution to the main model. An examples with hypothetical data are explained to validate the developed model and methodology.
