Abstract

SHS investigation development is considered from the geographical and historical viewpoint. 3 stages are described. Within Stage 1 the work was carried out in the Department of the Institute of Chemical Physics in Chernogolovka where the scientific discovery had been made. At Stage 2 the interest to SHS arose in different cities and towns of the former USSR. Within Stage 3 SHS entered the international scene. Now SHS processes and products are being studied in more than 50 countries.

Abstract

Smart antenna is one of the latest inventions in science and technology, which facilitates the communication process in a better way. There are a lot of features in smart antennas. It has been very useful to track the desired antenna’s location by calculating the beam formation. Due to the implementation of smart signal processing algorithm, we can use the spectrum efficiently. There is a reduction of cost in establishing new wireless networks. It also gives more reliable quality of service. In this chapter, we will talk about the benefits and the most recent advances in smart antenna transceiver architecture. By researching the smart antenna techniques, it is observed that the success of the smart antenna lies on two major factors:

i) Top-down compatibility: For next generation communication system, the features of smart antenna need to be preferred.

ii) Bottom-up feasibility: According to critical parameters, smart antenna technique performs realistically.

At the end we will discuss market trends, future projections, and the expected financial impact of smart antenna systems deployment.
