Pp: 185-196 (12)

Abstract

Chronic pancreatitis is a debilitating disease. A common symptom is a pancreatic pain, sometimes with an impact on the patient’s life quality. The goal of the endoscopic approach of chronic pancreatitis with pain resisting standard drugs is the drainage of Wirsung duct and reducing the severity of pancreatic pain. Furthermore, biliary obstruction and pseudocysts are locoregional complications that may endoscopically be resolved. The long term safety and efficacy of the endoscopic approach is under investigation.
