Honorary Advisors:

Editor-in-Chief:
The Editor-in-Chief (EiC) holds a pivotal role in leading the journal, making key decisions to support its development and promotion. With extensive knowledge and expertise in editorial processes, the EiC is actively involved in all major aspects of publication.
The responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief include:
Evaluating submissions in alignment with the journal’s aims and scope.
Providing guidance on the journal’s publication plan while ensuring adherence to its policies and standards.
Upholding the quality and integrity of published articles in accordance with ethical publishing guidelines, such as COPE standards
Approving the journal’s design and structure.
Overseeing the formation of the editorial team, including board members, section editors, associate editors, regional editors, and executive guest editors.
Coordinating closely with the editorial team to ensure smooth journal operations, effective supervision, and a steady inflow of submissions.
Analyzing journal performance in relation to prevailing industry trends and standards.
Making key decisions regarding the approval of articles for publication.
Promotes the journal at relevant conferences and events.
Recommending and contributing to special issues, themed editions, or individual articles for the journal.
Co-Editors:
The Co-Editor supports the Editor-in-Chief in fulfilling various editorial responsibilities for the journal, playing an active role in the peer-review process, article revisions, finalization, and the selection of the editorial team.

Contributing to key decisions made by the Editor-in-Chief and the publisher regarding the journal.
Actively participating in the journal’s overall development and continuous improvement.
Section Editor-in-Chief:
Each of our specialty sections is led by a Section Editor-in-Chief, who is primarily responsible for overseeing all editorial activities within their assigned section. They ensure that manuscripts align with the section’s scope and make the final decision on their acceptance or rejection.
Country Editor:
A Country Editor is responsible for managing and overseeing the submission of thematic issues.
The responsibilities of the Country Editor include:
Soliciting and reviewing one thematic issue per year, focusing on trending and emerging fields within their respective section.
Associate Editors:
An Associate Editor supports the Editor-in-chief in the finalization of manuscripts. The responsibilities of the Associate Editor include:
Contributing one thematic issue in a year.
Soliciting articles and identifying hot topics for the journal.
Participating in the overall development and improvement of the journal.
Regional Editors:
A Regional Editor manages article submissions and other publication processes within a specific geographical area. They play an active role in representing their region and staying informed about relevant regional issues. The responsibilities of the Regional Editor include:
Soliciting thematic issues from their regions.
Contributing to trending and emerging themed issues.
Supporting the overall development and improvement of the journal and promoting it in their respective region.
Section Editors:
A Section Editor oversees a specific section within the journal, dedicated to an area of expertise within the broader discipline.
The responsibilities of a section editor include:
Soliciting and reviewing one thematic issue per year on trending and emerging topics within their section.
Contributing to the overall development and enhancement of the journal.
Executive Guest Editor:
An Executive Guest Editor manages and oversees thematic issue submissions
The responsibilities of an Executive Guest Editor include:
Serving a term of threeyears ( if mutually agreed). Initially, they must submit a brief proposal for their first thematic issue, focused on a significant and emerging topic, for editorial consideration.
Soliciting a guest-edited thematic issue each year ensuring the submission of one full-length thematic issue annually. These thematic issues may be solely edited by the Executive Guest Editor or co-edited in collaboration with another expert in the field, designated as a Co-Guest Editor. (A Thematic/Special issue is a collection of 8 to 10 comprehensive review articles on a topic of major significance to the field. Contributors should ideally have a strong h-index and come from diverse regions, preferably technologically advanced countries, to ensure varied perspectives. Editorial decisions on all Thematic issue manuscript submissions are made by the Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the journal. To accommodate potential rejections, Executive Guest Editors (EGEs) should propose a list of 12 to 14 contributors along with tentative article titles.)
Peer-reviewing submitted articles within their field of expertise (2 to 3 times per year), but excluding those papers that are submitted to their on thematic issues.
Editorial Board Members:
The Editorial board is a panel of researchers with expertise in the relevant field. They are appointed by the publishers in consent with the Editor-in-Chief of the journal for a specified term of 2-3 years.
The responsibilities of Editorial Board Members include:
Conducting peer reviews of submitted manuscripts in accordance with the journal’s policies and scope.
Arranging hot topics or theme issues as well as submitting manuscripts themselves..
Inviting potential authors and contributing articles themselves.
Assisting in locating suitable peer reviewers and providing second opinions on manuscripts when needed.
Promoting the journal amongst colleagues and encouraging manuscript submissions.
Recommending qualified individuals for the editorial board of the journal.
Associate Editorial Board Members:
The Associate Editorial Board Members (AEBMs) are early-career researchers or scientists who are emerging in their respective fields. This role provides them with a valuable opportunity to engage with experts and gain editorial experience.
The responsibilities of an Associate Editorial Board Member include:
Submitting and soliciting articles for the journal.
Promoting Bentham Science journals among librarians, colleagues, and researchers in their region.
Selection Criteria:
The editorial board must ideally be geographically diverse, having members from various regions based on their field of expertise. However, the size of the board may vary from journal to journal.
The Editorial board plays an essential role in the progress of the journal, so members are appointed as per the following criteria:
Geographical diversity.
Relevance of expertise to the journal’s scope.
Must have a specific number of publications to their credit.
Recognition and prominence in key research institutions.
Potential Candidates for Editorial Board Membership:
Editorial Board members are selected based on the above criteria. Candidates may include guest editors, previous authors, or peer reviewers who have contributed to the journal, as well as individuals recommended by existing board members.
Upon invitation to the editorial board, potential candidates are given a detailed description of their responsibilities. They are also informed that the position is voluntary and does not include remuneration.
