Abstract

Introduction: In present study, a simple liquid-liquid extraction-high performance liquid chromatography–fluorescence method was developed for the determination of fluoxetine (FLU) in rat plasma samples.

Materials and Methods: A MZ Analytical Column C18 (250 mm × 4.6 mm, 5µm i.d.) was used for the separation of FLU. The total analysis time was less than 7 minutes. The rat plasma samples were simply treated with acetonitrile and analyzed using developed method.

Conclusion: The recovery of the FLU from rat plasma samples is 92.70% ± 0.48. FLU in spiked rat plasma samples provided linear data over a range of 0.2 – 2.00 µg mL-1. The method was validated according to the FDA guidelines and can be proposed for quantification of FLU in rat plasma.
