Abstract

Conventional clinical imaging plays crucial role in management of TB. Recently, F-18 fluoro-deoxy-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) has been widely used as an useful imaging modality in the field of oncology. However, FDG is a glucose analogue and its uptake depends upon the degree of glucose metabolism within the cell. Moreover, literature evidence suggest role of FDG PET/CT in different infectious and non-infectious inflammatory diseases including fever of unknown origin. This review article elaborates emerging role of PET/CT in the management of TB.
