Abstract

Phytochemical analyses have revealed the genus Lonchocarpus to be a rich source of many different classes of polyphenolic compounds. These classes include aurones, chalcones, dibenzoylmethane derivatives, pterocarpans, rotenoids, flavanones, flavanols, flavans, flavones, flavonols, and isoflavones. This review presents a summary of polyphenolic compounds found in Lonchocarpus species as well as activities of some of those compounds.
