Abstract

A novel cross-shaped porphyrin pentamer having four imidazolyl-porphyrinatozinc(II) moieties, one at each meso-position, was prepared. AFM measurements confirmed the formation of a large twodimensional porphyrin array structure: a thin layer of 6∼7 porphyrins was assembled over a 350 × 350nm2 area, representing linkage of approximately 120 pentamer units along the line of the cross.
