Abstract

Glycerol is being obtained as a byproduct of biodiesel production. The chemical transformation of glycerol into more valued chemicals is a very important topic today. In this short review we show some applications of zeolite-catalyzed reactions of glycerol to produce ethers, acetals/ketals, esters and dehydration products.
